Wow.. the silence is deafening. Though I've been prodded several times recently, I just hadn't found the time to update this blog. It's not that we haven't done plenty, since we have. Life just seems to get busier and busier. The "downtime" always seems to be filled quickly.
Christmas was very, very fun this year. Cameron was so excited and really enjoyed the whole season. He loved the songs (and singing them), the lights, the excitement and most of all having both sides of the family around at the same time. He was excited at the prospect of Santa Claus, without really understanding the gifts part of it. It was so fun and so genuine. A few pictures from the season follow:
Here are a few from "Tea with Santa". Imagine my surprise when there was indeed real china when we sat down!! Cameron did great though, and was very in awe of Santa and had fun talking to him and singing Christmas Carols:
After the yummy reindeer cupcake was a sing a long with Santa, his elf and the snow princess:
We also made several trips around town to see all of the lights, including our own mini tacky light tour when my parents were here. Cameron especially loved the reindeer at the James Center:
I did grow a couple of Amaryllis this Christmas time - the blooms came at weird times, but his particular one bloomed four times - quite beautiful:
About as good as it got for the family picture - I won't let the clicker run out of batteries next time - I bought two spares!
Cameron and his cousins - they get SO silly when they're together:
The winning gift this year was definitely Cameron's digital camera. He would not put it down the entire time that he was opening the rest of his gifts. He's had a blast with it since.
The Cameron has some neat features - it can add little graphics to the photos. It can also take some very limited video footage. I took this clip at our friend's house (excuse the quality). They have a piano. Cameron LOVES music and loves to sing. He discovered the piano there and wouldn't stay away from it. It's really fun to watch him discover the world of music:
We sing some every day. Some of Cameron's favorites are "The Bumblebee Song", "Peanut Butter & Jelly", "The Turtle Song", "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" and "Rock-a-bye Baby". Sometimes he'll come home from school singing a song that we've never sung before, so that's kind of fun.
Cameron changed pre-schools in January. We love the new school and he adores his two new teachers. He talks about them quite often. He's learning a lot, too. He knows the alphabet (upper and lower case), his numbers to 20 (though he talks about some higher numbers), he's starting to count in Spanish as well. The colors are still hit or miss. Orange is the only one that he will identify regularly. He's just not interested. We showed him some tests used for color-blindness and that doesn't appear to be an issue. I guess it will just take some time.
He's really starting to like golf. Patrick's showed him how to hold his club with two hands and he's now surprising accurate when hitting with his little plastic club and balls. We may have to try a mini golf outing this spring.
He also loves video games (I know.. groan, bad mommy, right?). We got a Wii after Christmas and we've had a lot of fun with it. He can play a couple of games on his own - like fishing, and we help him with some of the others like baseball and tennis. I never thought that Patrick would be into video games, but he has fun with it, too. My personal favorites are bowling and Guitar Hero. Rock on! :)
We got a stretch of nice weather in January and February and we've been able to spend a good amount of time outdoors both here at the house and out with others on playdates. It's been so nice to be able to get out and have some fun.
Here's Cameron at our picnic table, channeling Trump:
And one of the two of us in the backyard having fun:
We've been doing some potty-training with mixed results. Cameron has moved up into Pull-ups in the meantime. He's still in a crib for now, but it won't be long before diapers and cribs are behind us. My little man is really growing up!
Yay! A new post! I'm glad that I didn't stop checking ;-). I miss my weekly chats with you about our little guys. Those are some nice new pictures, too. Really cute one of the two of you in the yard.

I second the YEA a new post - and what a great post it was! Glad the new school is working out so well, I am a little nervous at what I am doing with Hannah next year...
